Different Data Source for Users and Groups

  1. Custom Users and Groups

    Custom Users and Groups are created manually by keying in the employee data or uploading a CSV file. For users, you can add their name, email address, joined on date, office and department. For groups, you can create and name them as well as associate users to it. Check out this article for Creating Custom Users and Groups.


        Limitations of Custom Users and Groups :

    • You cannot create dynamic groups using Custom Users and Groups

  2. On-premise AD Users and Groups

    All users and groups information can be added directly from your Microsoft Active Directory to your Phish Insight account.         Limitations of On-premise AD Users and Groups :

    • You cannot add, edit and delete any Users and Groups information. This has to be done at source in your Active Directory. You can however create Dynamic Groups.

  3. Azure AD Users and Groups

    All users and groups information can be added directly from your Azure Active Directory to your Phish Insight account.         Limitations of Azure AD Users and Groups :
    • You cannot add, edit and delete any Users and Groups information. This has to be done at source in your Active Directory. You can however create Dynamic Groups.

  4. Dynamic On-premise or Azure AD Groups

    Dynamic AD Groups are special groups that you can use when On-premise AD or Azure AD Users and Groups are enabled. These groups are created by specifying conditions that will automatically search and enroll all users who meet a specified condition.

    Different Dynamic Groups Conditions
    1. Include or Exclude On-premise or Azure AD groups
    2. Include or Exclude Users who 
      • Joined within last specific number of days.
      • Joined between specific dates

    3. Include or Exclude Users who 
      • Were never included in launched phishing campaign
      • Who haven't been included in launched campaign in the past specific number of days.

Know what data source of Users and Groups you want to use

Choosing the data source of Users and Groups is important. This will determine who you can send your phishing campaigns to. To decide which data source of Users and Groups ismost suitable for you, you can use the questionnaire below:


  1. Do I want to add users information from a CSV file?
    If yes, we recommend to choose Custom. This will let you import your Phish Insight v1 CSV file to your Phish Insight v2 account.
  2. Do I want to add users information individually?
    If yes, you can choose Custom. This will let you let you specify individual information for each user.

  3. Do I want to add specific users in a new group?
    If yes, you can choose Custom. This will let you add users and specify those users in a new Custom group.

  4. Do I want to leverage my Company's Microsoft Active Directory?
    If yes, you can choose On-premise or Azure AD. This will let you sync specific groups and its associated users from your Active Directory to your Phish Insight Account.

  5. Do I want to leverage Dynamic Groups?
    If yes, you can choose On-premise or Azure AD. This will let you create and use Dynamic Groups.

  6. Do I have thousands of users and have a Microsoft Active Directory?
    If yes, we recommend to choose On-premise or Azure AD. This will save you time in creating your users and groups information manually.

   

How to enable Custom Users and Groups?

  1. Log in to Phish Insight.

  2. Click Settings > AD Synchronization.

  3. Click Custom.
  4. Click Set active data source.


How to enable On-premise AD Users and Groups?

  1. Log in to Phish Insight.

  2. Click Settings > AD Synchronization.

  3. Click On-premise AD.
  4. Click Set active data source.


How to enable Azure AD Users and Groups?

  1. Log in to Phish Insight.

  2. Click Settings > AD Synchronization.

  3. Click Azure AD.
  4. Click Set active data source.
